It’s Fall — Such a Special Time in the Eastern Sierra!
My favorite time of year is upon us. Fall and winter are those magical seasons when there seems to be a natural calm; a sort of serenity after the hustle bustle of the summer months. The landscape comes alive with astonishing colors that fade to a soft and glistening white winter wonderland. The sun takes on a glow…a different kind of light that says “Fall is here”. A special time when the days are, typically, warm and the mornings and evenings are cool and comfortable; good sleeping weather! It is a time to enjoy the warmth of home, while warming by a beautiful fire with family and friends and being inspired to focus on cooking and the cozy things that make one appreciate our amazing seasons. The fall and winter holidays are my favorite, by far, and my special time to enjoy being here in the Sierra. The seasons are one of the best parts of living here and something to be forever grateful for.
Life’s not about expecting, hoping and wishing, it’s about doing, being and becoming.
— Mike Dooley
We’ve got water!
Bridgeport is an historic town located in a beautiful valley in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains of Eastern California, known for its history and proximity to Bodie, one of the only remaining authentic ghost towns.
Bridgeport offers many recreational activities during the summer and fall months. This charming and welcoming town is loved by many visitors each year and is a destination for its Fourth of July events! The rodeo and fireworks display are renowned, the parade is the longest-running, consecutive event of its kind, and the street fair features local vendors, music and fun for everyone. Locals and visitors alike look forward to these events all year.
The beautiful surroundings and proximity to Lake Tahoe, Reno, Mammoth Lakes, June Lake and other Sierra resort areas create a base for your summer activities. Explore Aurora, once thought to be the Mono County Seat until it was discovered that it is located in Nevada, Masonic and other historic nearby areas. Fish, hike, explore or simply enjoy the nearby hot springs. Fall colors are abundant in the region and offer a relaxing and special experience. Whatever your pleasure, you can find it here!
